The 5BX Plan was composed of six charts arranged in increasing order of difficulty,
each chart being composed of five exercises to be performed within 11 minutes.
As you progressed within the system, the number of each type of exercise that must be performed
increased and the difficulty of each exercise increased.
On their FAQs page,
Canada's Air Force website
posts the following statement regarding 5BX -
The Air Force 5BX Exercise Program
The 5BX program, extremely popular during the 1950s, is no longer in existence.
The exercise principles of the program have long been proven invalid by scientific
advances in modern exercise physiology. The 5BX program was also considered hazardous since it was unsupervised.
If you are interested in getting back in shape, please consult your physician before embarking on any exercise program.
