The Bus Ride

[DutchNote ~ In December of 2002, Michael "Doc" Dunn launched a "Funniest Misawa Story" contest, open to all site members. In January, a panel of judges voted this the funniest of the candidates and Grizz was the winner.]

While in Misawa I was a member of the "Rock Club" which generally meant that you were an above average party animal. We had finished the last of our day shifts and were going on break. As usual I started running the bars about 7:00 pm and had intended to catch the last bus to the hill leaving the main gate at midnight. As luck would have it, I missed the bus.

This wasn't a big thing at the time as I had the next day off. Realizing this, I decided that I could continue to run the bars and catch the first bus in the morning at 7:00 a.m., take the 20 minute ride to the hill and catch some zzzzz's. Seemed like a good plan so I put it in motion. All went well - had a great night and met the bus as planned at the main gate at 7:00 a.m.

Must have had a little to much night life as I woke at 4:00 p.m. back at the main gate. After riding the bus for nine hours I was exactly where I had started. By my calculations, I made 28 trips up and down the hill that day. Probably a record that still stands.
